JDB 135: 8 Ways to Be a Happier, Healthier, More Produtive Lawyer

There is no way to get around it – practicing simply takes time.  And I often find that because the “law” part of my job takes so much time other things in my life take a back seat like my health (both physical and mental), business development, and at times even my family.

In this episode I share with you eight things I have incorporated into my life from an article I recently read by Benjamin Hardy entitled “50 Ways Happier, Healthier, and More Successful People Live Life on Their Own Terms.”

  1. Hi John, yet another episode that resonated with me. Hearing you talk about waking up in the middle of the night because you thought you blew or deadline, or you are thinking about clients, etc. helps normalize what I’m going through. Just last night I woke up worried I had blown a statute! It’s nice to hear other lawyers talk about what’s working and what’s not working for them. Been having trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep! Also, the decluttering thing is something my wife and I also want to do. It’s so nice hearing you talk about the very same things we are dealing with here at home. We only have 2 kids, so I don’t know how you get it all done. Really enjoy listening in to your podcast. Thank you for doing it. I look forward to the episodes. No pressure…

P.S. My wife and I found the 50 Ways article and we will be reviewing it in more depth very soon.

Robert – Thanks for the comment. I think that as lawyers we really all share a lot of the same anxieties and stresses even though we often try and act like the job doesn’t have that impact on us.
